The lie of the land
Soi 2 runs due south from Sukhumvit Road for 630 metres and stops. You can walk all of it in 9 minutes.
Sukhumvit's side streets are numbered from the city end outward, odd on the north side and even on the south. Soi 2 is the first even one, so it sits at the very start of the road, in Khlong Toei district. The elevated Chaloem Mahanakhon Expressway runs parallel to it about 130 metres to the west.
This guide always describes the soi as you meet it walking in from Sukhumvit Road. “Left” is the east side and “right” is the west side. Distances are metres from the Sukhumvit corner.
Three stretches
The Mouth
0–150 mThe first 150 metres belong to Sukhumvit Road more than to the soi: a shopping centre and bank offices on your right, a large international hotel on your left, chain cafés and a supermarket.

The Deep Soi

The far end
The road stops for cars at about 630 metres. Footpaths are mapped onward from there towards Soi 4 to the east and Duang Phithak Road to the west. Whether they are open, lit and pleasant to use is on the list for our first walk.
